In 1976 my mom and dad (Carolyn and Maynard Arnett) began what is now Arnetts Country Store. In the little Southern Illinois town of West Frankfort, my dad was a coal miner and my mom worked in the home making handmade items for our (Shop in the Garage) as it were. My brother Darren and I would help when we could and thus began our business. I can still remember my mom staying up all hours of the night making santa pull toys and standing & sitting santas for her shop. When my dad was home he and Darren would hand carve doll faces, santa and snowman faces from old blocks of wood. I would help mom sew, paint, clean up, or anything else that needed to be done. It was our way of life and I grew up in that warm country atmosphere. Today, we strive to maintain that country feeling in all that
